Morning Worship at 11

Morning Worship at 11 is what might be called "traditional" Methodist worship. That is, a service in which the focal point is a sermon or talk based on and exploring passages from the Bible. The person delivering the sermon is someone who has been trained to do so, either a Minister, Deacon or Lay/Local Preacher. Holy Communion is celebrated, on average, once a month. Four or five hymns are sung that may also explore the Bible readings of the day or may relate more generally to the season of the year, these hymns being very wide ranging in terms of era and style. The repertoire of hymns is drawn from "Singing the Faith", the most recent version of the Methodist hymn book. Accompaniment is provided by the organ (to find out more about this historic instrument, click here) or, for contemporary worship songs, the piano. Prayers are said that helps us to worship, to ask for forgiveness for the things that we haven't got right, to give thanks for all the good things that we receive, and to support people locally and world-wide who are facing challenging times. The service lasts approximately one hour.
